COCKTAIL SCIENCE: SHAKING
Q: Does ice at 0 Degrees Celsius (the more realistic bar situation) or super cold ice straight out of the freezer chill a drink faster?
A: The O Degree Celsius ice chills drinks faster then the ice at -15 Degrees Celsius straight out of the freezer. The graph shows the 0 Degrees ice chilling the drink a few degrees more at 10-12 seconds of shaking. The ice right out of the freezer does chill the drink more but you’ll have to shake the drink for a minute. No one shakes a drink that long solely for chilling.
