HOME MADE MINT SYRUP
I love me some Mint Syrup. It’s lovely with a Mint Julep or even a Mojito for that extra kick of mint flavor. Another basic easy recipe to make.
Recipe:
- Make simple syrup using a 1:1 ratio of sugar to water (make 1 quart)
- Place 50-60 big mint leaves in a large food safe container
- (It’s ok to add more mint leaves for a more minty syrup)
- Muddle the mints in the food safe container to release the mint oils
- Pour the simple syrup in the food safe container
- Stir slightly
- Cover the food safe container
- Refrigerate for 4 hours
- Strain & bottle mint syrup
Keeps for 3 days refrigerated. Vodka can be added to lengthen the longevity of the mint syrup. I personally add 3/4 oz of vodka to every 16 oz of mint syrup.
