YES! HOME MADE PURE, HARD, CLEAR ICE!

After reading about polar ice trays; I was told how using an igloo can give you clear ice. In an igloo container, ice freezes slowly from the top to bottom while pushing the air and impure substances down to the bottom.  In the end, you are left with clear pure ice on the top and impure white substance on the bottom. The impure portion is easy to chop off since it’s brittle. The ice must be very soft and wet in order to chisel straight lines for that perfect ice cube. Hard ice right out of the freezer will be brittle and cracks rather uncontrollably. The pros are you get clear, hard ice. The cons would be water takes a while to freeze in an igloo because of the insulation design. Another con would be I can only use a small igloo container due to the limited space in my freezer (Lid must remain open during freezing process). A small container equals small batches of clear ice. So it might be a good idea to take the lid off if you plan to use the igloo container solely for making clear ice. Removing the lid will help resolve the limited space dilemma.
