HOME MADE HONEY SIMPLE SYRUP

Drink with long making honey syrup. Some recipes ask for equal parts raw honey and water. Here, I use 2 parts water to 1 part raw honey. I used 12 oz water and 6 oz (fluid) raw honey and ended up with 13 oz honey syrup. So 30 oz water and 15 oz (fluid) honey should yield approximately a liter worth of honey syrup if I did my math estimation right. I also tried adding half an orange peel and about 5-6 cloves to the honey syrup.

STEPS:

  1. Bring raw honey and water in a saucepan to a boil on medium heat.
  2. Add orange peel and cloves.
  3. Bring heat to a simmer on low heat.
  4. Let ingredients simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Remove saucepan from heat and allow to cool
  6. Strain honey syrup into a bottle

Syrup will last for two weeks.  Adding vodka as a preservative is perfectly fine to lengthen the longevity of the honey syrup. I usually add 3/4  to 1 oz for every 16 oz of syrup.
